Ambition will present its M series and CB series precipitated barium sulfate at CHINACOAT 2026, taking place November 11–13 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, China. Visitors can meet the team at Booth 3.2F47 in Hall 3.2, Area A.

The Yunfu-based manufacturer will also exhibit zinc sulfide and functional masterbatch. For coatings and ink manufacturers, the main focus will be material selection for passive radiative cooling coatings, partial titanium dioxide replacement and more stable pigment dispersion.

M Series Barium Sulfate for Passive Radiative Cooling Coatings

A passive radiative cooling coating needs to reflect sunlight while releasing heat as infrared radiation through the 8–13 μm atmospheric window. The choice of inorganic particles is central to achieving both properties in the finished film.

Ambition’s M series combines high whiteness and high purity with controlled particle sizes. Different grades give formulators options for adjusting the particle size distribution in reflective roof and exterior coating systems. Its chemical stability and weatherability are also relevant where the coating will face prolonged outdoor exposure.

At CHINACOAT, visitors can discuss M series selection for their binder system and application. Solar reflectance and mid-infrared emissivity should be evaluated in the finished coating, since the powder grade alone does not determine cooling performance.

M-700 for Partial Titanium Dioxide Replacement

M-700 is another focus of the exhibition, particularly for manufacturers looking to reduce titanium dioxide use in white paints and coatings. The grade has a typical median particle size, D50, of 0.7 μm and can be evaluated as a functional extender alongside TiO₂.

Its dispersibility and particle spacing effect can help distribute titanium dioxide more evenly in the coating. The formulation goals are better pigment efficiency, high whiteness and gloss, and lower material cost. Low oil absorption also makes M-700 relevant to formulations targeting higher solids at a workable viscosity.

The appropriate replacement level depends on the paint. A useful trial compares hiding power, whiteness and gloss against the existing formulation at the same dry film thickness, together with viscosity and formulation cost.

CB Series for Automotive Coatings and Inks

Ambition’s CB series is a modified ultrafine precipitated barium sulfate for applications including pigment pastes, PCB inks, automotive coatings and industrial finishes. CB-300, with a typical D50 of 0.3 μm, is one of the grades available for evaluation.

The series is designed to support fine dispersion, surface gloss and color development. In colored systems, its surface modification helps improve pigment stability, addressing flocculation and the uneven appearance associated with floating and flooding.

CB series also offers thixotropic behavior that can contribute to suspension stability and sag resistance. This is relevant when a coating needs to spread during application and recover enough structure to stay in place on a vertical surface. Performance should be checked with the actual resin, pigment package and dispersion process.
